In a recent development, the Penn State University police have decided they won’t charge Jason Kelce for his phone incident. The former Philadelphia Eagles center controversially smashed a fan’s cell following a heated altercation with the unidentified person. Their interaction was caught on video, ultimately gaining much attention on the internet. In the aftermath of the viral episode, many expected Kelce to face legal consequences for his outburst. Nevertheless, the concerned authorities have now decided not to implicate Travis Kelce’s brother.

Here’s everything you need to know regarding the latest update on the Jason Kelce phone incident.

Jason Kelce will not be charged for phone incident

In an official email forwarded by University Police and Public Safety, public information officer Jacqueline Sheader to the Associated Press stated that they would not be indicting Jason Kelce. Sheader also confirmed in his report that the Penn State University police have officially drawn the curtains on the case.

The major reason behind this decision, per Sheader, alludes to the unknown identity of the individual in the video. Additionally, the person has not lodged any complaint against Kelce for the aforementioned phone incident. This has led to the authorities dropping all charges against the LII Super Bowl champion.

Kelce’s infamous phone incident occurred on November 2 outside the Beaver Stadium after the FBS I fixture between Penn State and Ohio State. While greeting fans outside the arena, Kelce was interrupted by an approaching bystander. The unnamed person then hurled a homophobic slur at the retired athlete, aimed at his brother’s relationship with Taylor Swift.

The ESPN correspondent smashes the heckler’s cell on the ground in the viral video that captured the entire episode. He then proceeds to address the person with the same homophobic phrase.

Jason Kelce has since come out to apologize for the phone incident. During ESPN’s Monday Night Football pregame show, conducted prior to the Buccaneers-Chiefs game, Kelce stated, “In a heated moment, I decided to greet hate with hate. I fell short this week.”
